Content Marketing Tips for Small Businesses

No matter what type of business you are running, the key to online success is creating content your potential audience will find useful. Content marketing means creating content that will help you to find new customers and keep the ones you have. When it’s done right, in a high-quality manner, it positions you as an authority in your field of work. Content can take a number of forms. While text is incredibly common, you’ll also want to consider creating videos, e-books, how-to guides, photos, and more.

Small businesses have bigger challenges when it comes to content marketing, many of which stem from a smaller marketing budget. The good news is there are some creative things you can do to create content that won’t break the bank.

    Create Your Own Q&A Blogs

Do you find you get emails asking the same questions over and over again? Gather those frequently asked questions and create a FAQ or Q&A page for your website or blog. This will add quality content to your site while giving new visitors a chance to have all of their questions answered in one place. You will, of course, still have to answer those emails, but you can also add the link to your site so that potential customers can read additional information as well.

    Turn Videos into Blog Posts

YouTube is great for marketing but you can make your videos go further by writing blog posts about the content in the videos. You can then embed the video into the post itself so that people can run it while they’re reading about the subject at hand. They may stay on the blog and watch the video, or they may click through to YouTube and see your other videos as well. Videos are great for exposure.

    Statistics Rule

The general public loves short, sweet pieces of information they can digest really easily. Create a list of simple facts or statistics that support your business goals, services, or products and publish them as a post with a few supporting images (as web audiences are also very visual).

    Content Curation and Infographics

Content curation is the act of sorting through information on the internet and presenting it to your audience. The good news here is that it doesn’t necessarily have to be your unique content if it is presented in a way that doesn’t pose a conflict of interest. You could create a post with the “10 best articles about…” or talking about the statistics in publicly posted infographic that you preview or show (if copyright allows) on your site. They key is not to just share other content though, but to add your insights and opinions to give your audience a better idea of what you think and why you are the person who can solve their problems.
